What is RemoteViva?
RemoteViva is a way for an Examiner (Presenter) to display Images on a Candidate's (Audience's) device.

When can you use RemoteViva?
It is designed to be used during video conferences where the Examiner wants to show something to the Candidate.

So, it's a convoluted way of screen sharing through Zoom / Google Meet / Teams?
Yes, yes it is. However, the benefit is that the Candidate can view the Images at the highest possible quality, i.e. RemoteViva pulls the images from the server to be displayed on the Candidate device without being compressed into the video stream.

How does it work?
The Examiner uses the Editor interface to prepare a Set of Images. The Candidate opens the Set, and the Examiner chooses the Images to be displayed to the Candidate. RemoteViva is meant to be run concurrently with another video conferencing software.

Can the Candidate control which images are shown?
Nope. Like a real viva, the Examiner fully controls what is shown to the Candidate. However, the Candidate will be able to zoom and pan on the current Image using the web browser controls.

How many Candidates can enter at any one time?
There is no limit to how many Candidates may enter. Thus, RemoteViva can also be used for basic Presentations where Image quality is important.

Will the Examiner know which Candidate is viewing the Set?
Yes, a list of Candidates currently viewing the Images within the Set are displayed in the Editor view.

Can the Candidate enter Editor view?
All Sets are Passcode-protected. Candidates can create a new Sets, but they will not be able to view the Examiner's Set unless they know the Passcode.

If I create a Set, can I delete it after I'm done?
At the moment, please delete each Image within the Set when you are done; because Set-level deletion has not yet been implemented.

How much do I have to pay for RemoteViva?
RemoteViva is currently free for all users and all uses. If you like it and use it often, please consider a donation as I am paying the costs for the server out of pocket. I'm contactable through email.
